It’s been awhile since I enjoy good acting film without having to deal with the overwhelming of CGI effects. The effects just vaporise the element of engagement. These days, it seems like most film outside of Hollywood achieve a great deal and that speaks volumes of what is going on so wrong in their ideals and concepts in making a good movie.
From the outside of A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night most people will have doubtful thoughts that this film is going to end right, believe me, I have doubt too. Not until I saw the trailer and realised that this film was made in black and white only.
This immediately got me excited about it, I decided to take the plunge for the next two hours. This film just draws me in every scene it has to offer. The characters were so sincere in the acting, you can see it in their eyes.
The dialogues were captivating, it almost holds you in that stillness while you await the answers or questions from the characters. It was also interesting that this film was made in another country and I get to learn about their cultures and social interactions.
You come to realise that the framing of the scenes due to the black and white film nature, was carefully selected to produce an eerie atmosphere or capturing those amazing geometry structures and contrast.
Give this film a try. You might be amazed at how good it is. In the simplest form possible in telling a story. A very good one indeed.
